A Rare Baby Named Rafael

Rafael is my first and only child. He was born in October of 2015 with the rarest of condition that any condition a first time mom could imagine called Tibial Hemimelia (TH) of the right leg.

The statistics indicates that TH affects only one in a million babies born around the world. With a world population of over 7 billion people baby Rafael's condition is quite a rare occurrence.

In Jamaica where Rafael was born, the only available treatment is the archaic method of amputation.

How can any mother phantom cutting her babies leg off without seeking possible alternatives.

I couldn't and I cant.

After plenty of research we came across the Paley Institute in Palm Beach, Florida that treats this condition using corrective surgeries, limb lengthening and physical therapy.

The head of the Institute examined Rafael and indicated that he has a milder version of the condition so the results will quite favourable if he receives the proposed surgeries.

Our goal is to save his leg and give him the independence he needs and deserves like any child in this world. With the help of the human family I know we can achieve this and help shed light on this condition for children as rare as Rafael to get the help they need.

Please help us save baby Rafael's leg.

Thank you for you kind support!
